What to Do When You Get Stuck
Entrepreneurship isn’t a straight line. It’s more like a winding road with unexpected detours, potholes and a few “are we there yet?” moments. The truth? At some point, you’re going to hit a wall. You’ll realize there’s a part of your business you’re not great at ~ whether that’s tech, marketing, sales or even managing your own time. That moment can feel frustrating, even paralyzing.
In that moment, remember this: getting stuck doesn’t mean you’re failing. It is actually a signal that you are growing.
Pause and Reframe
When you hit an obstacle, your first instinct might be to push harder, but often the smartest move (and simplest) is to pause. Take a step back and reframe the situation. Ask:
•Is this a skill I must develop or can it be delegated?
•Is this a roadblock or just a learning curve?
Somtimes clarity comes not from grinding through but from zooming out.
Identify What’s Really Missing
Many times, what feel like “I’m just not good at this” is really “I don’t have the right systems in place.” For example:
•If you struggle to follow up, maybe it is not a lack of discipline – it’s that you don’t have a CRM to keep track.
•If content feels overwhelming, maybe it’s not creativity – it’s that you don’t have a strategy or templates to simplify the process.
Learn, Lean or Let Go
Once you know what is missing, you have three options:
- Learn it – If this is core to your business and you want to master it, invest in training, coaching or courses.
- Lean on someone – Bring in a power partner, VA or mentor who already has expertise in this area.
- Let it go – if it’s not central to your role as CEO, delegate it permanently. Your energy belongs in the spaces where you shine.
Build Supportive Systems
Obstacles become less overwhelming when you have systems that catch the details and free your brain for strategy. A strong back office – your CRM, automations and templates – creates safety nets so you’re not constantly reinventing the wheel. One simple way to start is with the Simplified CEO Systems Kits, designed to streamline the messy parts so you can focus on growth.
Remember, Stuck Isn’t Permanent
The biggest trap entrepreneurs fall into is believing that being stuck is a permanent condition. When in fact, it is not. Every obstacle you face has a solution – sometimes the solution is growth, sometimes it is collaboration and sometimes it is simplification.
Getting stuck isn’t a sign to quit. It is a sign you’re building something real, something worth navigating through. Every obstacle is a chance to refine your business, strengthen your systems and remind yourself; you don’t have to be the best at everything. You just need to stay committed, resourceful and open to support.
If overwhelm is where you’re stuck right now, this is exactly why I built Simplified CEO Systems – to give you the tools, templates and support that make “stuck” a temporary speed bump instead of a dead end.
