I turn 55 this month.
It feels like something worth pausing for. Not because of the number—although it does have a certain grounded beauty to it. But because of the story behind it. The winding, imperfect, deeply human road that led me here. Not because it’s a milestone, but because of what it represents. Fifty-five years of growth, grit, grace, and good old-fashioned reinvention. Years of raising a family, launching businesses, caregiving, rebuilding, and finding joy in my journey—lessons only made clearer by aging as an entrepreneur and learning what really matters.
When I look back, I see so many different versions of me—each one doing her best with the tools she had. Now, standing here in this new chapter, I can say with full confidence: I have a deep appreciation for where I have been, but I don’t belong there anymore.
This season embraces clarity and confidence as a gift I want to share with as many women as possible – especially those navigating the middle chapters of life and wondering what is possible for their future. This year, more than ever, I’m feeling deeply grateful—for the life I’ve built, the business I’m growing, and the community I get to grow it with.
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re part of that community. This birthday? It’s not just about cake and candles. It’s about legacy. Alignment. And a wish that includes you.
Because my birthday wish this year is simple:
To help more midlife women build the kind of business that brings them clarity, joy, and confidence. This month, I’m giving gifts inside my Simplified CEO Systems Facebook group—not because it’s trendy or strategic, but because it brings me joy. I want to celebrate by pouring back into the women walking this journey with me. Every weekday in July, there’s a gift waiting inside the group. Some practical. Some fun. Some soul-stirring. All chosen with intention.
Midlife Wisdom: The CEO Skill No One Talks About
There is a gift that only time and experience can give you. Versions of it can be shared, but it can’t be wrapped in pretty paper and adorned with a glittery bow. It must be earned. Discernment. The kind of wisdom that only comes from making the wrong decisions a dozen times before finally figuring out what works. That’s one of the biggest advantages we have as midlife women. Aging as an entrepreneur gives us a refined lens—one that helps us make smarter decisions, protect our energy, and invest in tools that actually support our vision.
There’s power in knowing what to invest in—and what to walk away from. We don’t have to waste time chasing every new feature or funnel. We’ve already done that. Now, we choose tools that work. Tools that give us back our time, support our vision, and help us stay in our zone of genius.
Simplified CEO Systems was born from that lived experience. Not theory. Not fluff. It’s the platform I wish I’d had earlier—one that honors both strategy and simplicity. A space where you can stop stacking systems and start building something that lasts. Where balance is your business strategy.
Collaboration over Competition: The Midlife Business Mindset Shift
Let’s talk about something we’ve all felt—but don’t always say out loud.
There’s a strange undercurrent that sometimes shows up in entrepreneurship. You walk into a room—virtual or not—and feel a little unwelcome. Some entrepreneurs seem distant, short, or even territorial. You can sense the “stay in your lane” energy before a single word is spoken.
My mom always said, “A kind word turns away wrath.” I don’t believe most people are walking around full of wrath, but some certainly carry a wall of resistance. Especially when they see you rising beside them.
But here’s what happens when you meet that resistance with kindness: everything changes.
Kindness has a disarming power. It reminds people that this space is big enough for all of us. That your success doesn’t threaten mine. That cheering each other on isn’t just possible—it’s the most powerful way to grow.
There’s room at the top. There are billions of people in the online space. We can serve the same niche and still offer something unique. When we lead with generosity, we shift the entire energy of the room. Not only do we bring out the best in ourselves, but we often invite the best out of others.
Birthday Traditions and the Joy of Giving
Every year on my birthday, I give gifts.
Not because I have to. Because it brings me joy.
Imagine this: it’s 1989. I walk into First Watch for my birthday brunch with seven of my closest friends. We laugh. We reminisce. We dig into eggs benedict and sourdough toast while diving even deeper into each other’s hearts—sharing updates, offering encouragement, and speaking truth over each other’s lives. At the end of brunch, I pull out gift bags.
They’re not extravagant. Just small treasures I’ve discovered throughout the year—a candle with a scent that calms the soul, a luxurious hand cream, a book that stirred something in me. Each item chosen with care. Each gift meant to give beyond the moment of opening.
Some years, the tradition looks different. A quiet day spent shopping with my two oldest granddaughters. We carefully choose gifts for all of the grandkids. No rushing. No impulse buys. Just thoughtful, joy-filled conversations about what each person would truly love. Then we spend the afternoon surrounded by ribbon, tissue paper, and laughter—wrapping each gift with intention. Red wrap and bold black ribbon for Tytus. Pink glitter paper covered in bows for Hylia. Every gift tells a story. Every gesture says, “I see you.”
This Year, I Want to Give to You
So here we are—birthday month in full swing. My wish is to give you something that feels like a spark. Something that helps you step into your next season with confidence and joy.
Inside my Simplified CEO Systems Facebook group, I’ll be giving away gifts every weekday this month. We kicked things off with a free edition of Life Mastery Magazine, which includes a personal article from me. This is my first gift to you because I want you to feel seen in those pages. I hope it feels like a spark of clarity—an invitation to embrace balance as your new business strategy.
These gifts aren’t random. They’ve been chosen to support your business, nurture your mindset, and simplify your growth. Whether it’s a free tool, a strategy resource, or a personal favorite—my hope is that it gives you exactly what you didn’t even know you needed.
Two big giveaways will happen this month:
🗓️ One on July 19th—my actual birthday
🗓️ Another on July 31st to close out the celebration
To enter, just participate in the group: respond to posts, show up for others, attend our Monday Night Live CRM trainings, and invite fellow midlife women to join us. Entry instructions are pinned inside the group.
One last thing—just for you, my reader. Next Monday’s Monday Morning Coffee Chat will include a surprise we’ve been working on for months. It’s something near to my heart. Something I know will bring value to you. The gift we’ll be giving away live is valued at over $500—and you must be present to receive it.
Final Thoughts
Aging as an entrepreneur isn’t something I resist. It’s something I celebrate.
Because now, I know how to build with wisdom.
Now, I understand that alignment matters more than speed.
Now, I’m choosing to build a business that reflects who I am—not just what I sell. If you want to read more about finding balance in business and life, check out Finding Balance: How to Pursue Your Passion Without Neglecting What Matters Most
Thank you for being here, for being part of my community and heart, and for walking this journey with me. I hope you’ll jump inside the group, join the fun, and receive the gifts that were created with you in mind.
Here’s to 55.
To building with joy.
To creating a business that fits the life you actually love.
Find joy in your journey my friend,
