The Balanced Life:

Time Blocking Tips to Thrive and Empower

Have you ever felt so scattered in your thoughts that you weren’t able to focus and accomplish the things you needed to do?  I have been there more times than I can count!  As women we wear a lot of hats!  If we are lucky, we love all of them!  Despite loving them all, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged when we don’t accomplish everything we set out to do. Through time blocking, I’ve found a way to feel empowered and accomplished at the end of each day. Even if a task isn’t completed, I look forward to tackling it again the next day with renewed energy. Let me share how time blocking can help you thrive and feel empowered too!

Why Time Blocking Works As a busy work-from-home mom, farmer’s wife, and Grammy, I need clear time blocks to transition between tasks and areas of my life. Time blocks allow me to separate my work time, home time, and me time. They can be personalized in many ways, and I prefer to organize mine by day and time.

My Time Blocking Schedule

Monday to Thursday, 6am – 8am: Get up ~Morning routine (8 oz water, make bed, make my protein shake) ~ Tend the dog ~ Grounding ~ Walk ~ Quick workout ~ Prepare for the day

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 8am – 11:30am: 8-9am: Post and socialize on social media while drinking protein shake 9-9:15am: Respond to emails 9:15-10am: Task #1 10-11:30am: Task #2 11:30am – 1:30pm: Household chores ~ Lunch with my favorite farmer 1:30pm – 4:30pm: 1-hour time blocks for specific work tasks 4:30pm – Bedtime: Regular life, no work

Thursday Self-Care, 8am – 1:30pm: Nail appointments ~ Hair appointments ~ Shopping ~ Lunch with friends ~ 1:30pm: Pick up grandbabies and play until Friday evening

Saturday: Socialize on social media before 10am ~ Done working until 8pm Sunday evening

*Pro Tips for Time Blocking *Dedicate Specific Time Blocks: Focus on tackling a project, not necessarily completing it. *Give 110% Effort: Stay dedicated and avoid distractions during each time block.  No dilly dallying, no scrolling social media or taking phone calls etc.  Just 110% apply your efforts to the task at hand.  * STICK TO YOUR TIME BLOCKS: Consistency is key to feeling accomplished. *Flexible Adjustments: Move uncompleted tasks to the next day or week without stress.

Having clear time blocks scheduled not only helps me but also helps my friends and family understand my organized chaos and respect my time. Give it a shot for a week or two and see if it helps reduce your self-expectation anxiety. If you want an easy-to-use Time Block Worksheet, click HERE! (Grab it! It’s FREE!)

Time blocking may sound simple, but the results achieved when you correctly time block can not only make or break your business, but also improve your sense of accomplishment in all areas of your life!

My journey to create work-life balance is a story of transformation that has been 5 years in the making!  It travels along a path that has led me from the hustle and bustle of raising a family while owning my own Chic Boutique and Airbnb's to a space where I enjoy the tranquil rhythms of the countryside life, while creating income from home with an online business I absolutely love.  It's a tale of embracing simplicity, growth, and patience.
